Catch him at the US Open
Important Facts:
  • Federer will be seeded #2 at the US Open
  • Therefore, he gets put in the bottom half of the draw
  • Nadal #1 will be placed in the top half.
Nadal will play in the Semi-Finals 9/7 and Finals 9/9

The biggest question is whether it will be during the day session or evening session on those dates.
If you want to be absolutely sure you catch him on the day you attend, then I recommend buying both a Day and an Evening ticket.

He is about an 80% chance he gets put into most of the Evening Session. Typically the men's match is the 2nd match of the night, which starts immediately after the women's match opener that begins at 7pm.

Federer likely to face these opponents:
9/3 QF (Djokovic), 9/5 SF (Cilic or Nishikori), 9/7 (Nadal or Del Potro)
The other best chance to see Federer on the practice courts during the day. He will at least practicing on P1-P5 before any match. Any of these Day tickets will allow you to see many more matches than the evening session. Valid 11AM until ~5PM+.
