Novak Djokovic won the US Open 2012 Series.

It includes the "sail boat" Burj Al-Arab building where Federer and Agassi played tennis on the helipad (YouTube)

Disclosure:
Emirates Airlines is the official premier sponsor of the US Open Series.

What's the Common Formula for Novak and Andy?...both US Open Champions

Rain Update: Men's Monday Final Tickets ~$80, Women's Final ~$50 on TicketExchange NOW!

Check here on Limited Availability and Updated Prices:

$5 Grounds Pass for Men's Monday Finals

You can also get a $5 Grounds Admission Pass to watch the Men's Final at the US Open on the big screens. It can actually be a very exciting crowd outside the stadium. You can actually hear the players' shots echoing, fans cheering on both sides plus usually a better view than sitting at the very top of Ashe.

Tip: Be sure to pick up one of those Amex radios to get the play-by-play audio too. Can't beat $5 bucks!!

Actually now that I think about it, if you arrive later at night and see some people leaving the match early - you could always ask them nicely for their old ticket.
If Murray wins, it might be cool to go inside just to see Andy hoist his first Grand slam title! Enjoy the Finals!

US Open Weather and Ticket Update:

With severe weather canceling the 2nd men's semi-final and women's final, ticket sales are going crazy! People are trying to get rid of tickets as fast as they can tonight - Sell! Sell!

Here's the new schedule:

Sunday Schedule:
Ferrer-Djokovic 11 am, Azarenka-Serena 4:30 pm.

Monday Schedule:
Men's final on Monday ~5PM

Men's Semi's ~$100 and Finals Tickets now ~$110

US Open TicketExchange - Prices Cut in Half for Semi's and Finals Sessions

Update: With both Federer and Nadal absent from the US Open Finals for the first time in almost a decade, starting Thursday, we have been seeing the resale value of these tickets drop in half!

Limited Availability:

"Sold Out" Tickets still available for Finals Weekend

These sessions for the entire weekend were all "sold out" as of early Summer, even before it was available to the public. But today some of them can still be had for just over $100 from TicketExchange

  • Their loss is your gain!
  • Remember to buy an electronic TicketExchange ticket, for instant print-out
  • These tickets are guaranteed by Ticketmaster

Ferrer vs Djokovic, Murray vs Berdych

Should make for some great matches on Sat! Let's see who will tire out whom before Sunday's Final. Ferrer will be my dark horse pick to win it all; Maybe we'll see someone win their first major - lots of possibilities left.

Hope everyone will enjoy the rest of the US Open, wherever you get to watch it!
Also remember to vote on our Facebook page for a chance to win free tickets to 2013

Limited Availability:

9/5 and 9/6, Thursday and Friday tickets: 2-for-1 specials

Looking for great deals for Thursday and Friday tickets?

Sometimes the rain we had on Tues and Wed can work out for the best for those people who have tickets for Thursday and Friday sessions.

Remember there are $26 tickets available for both days with our ticketmaster promo codes

Janko Tipsarevic (SRB)[8] vs. David Ferrer (ESP)[4] (9/6 @ 1:30 PM)

The last men's quarter-final will be played NLT 1:30 PM. Also now with Federer out of the draw as of last night, the men's field is wide open! That was a terrific match between Berdych and Federer - who knows, maybe this is the year that Murray will finally win his first major?!

Also on the women's side, many are predicting a Serena vs Sharapova face-off and rematch.

Also, you'll be able to see both Men's and Women's Doubles semi-finals in the next few days.

Remember that the outer courts will have the top juniors all playing during the day so hopefully you'll be able to see some future stars in action too!

US Tennis Rain Forecast = Low Ticket Prices

Example: 2012 Hurricane Isaac Rains moving through East coast on Tues/Wed

So it looks like the remnants of Hurricane Isaac is going to be passing through the NYC area this Tuesday and Wednesday! This means a lot of moisture and possibly long extended periods of rain for Tues and into Wed this mid-week after Labor Day!

How to BUY or SELL tickets when there's 50%+ chance of Rain in forecast.
Look for falling ticket prices a day or two ahead of a storm!
People will often panic and sell great seats at well below cost.

For all US Open Series tournaments, there are no roof courts.
Be smart and do not risk holding a "wet ticket". Instead, if it looks like rain just buy a ticket for the following day.

Accuweather.com: isaac-brings-flash-flood-risk

Rained out the whole day? Rescheduled match with 5PM cut-off*

In previous US Opens when there have been long rain delays, matches with late start times can become moved to the next day*.

Also if no matches have started before 5pm, ticket holders usually get to come back the next day.

If this happens two days in a row then you can actually see a big backlog of the Men's and Women's 4th round and QF matches

Therefore, when there is a 60% chance of rain in the forecast especially for the first Tuesday and Wednesday, look for great matches starting Thursday you might want to think ahead!

Remember what I said last year? Seems like deja vu all over again for this US Open 2nd week

Did you know: US Open Rain Trivia

The last 4 straight years (2008-2011), the Men's Final has been rain delayed and played on Monday (NY Times)

This can sometimes be a great opt for NYC fans who are can stick around the US Open the day after to get cheap tickets for Semi's and Finals if they cannot complete the necessary matches to have a Sunday Final.

I was able to get great seats and witness Nadal complete his career grand slam in 2009 because of rain.

US Open Week 2 Tix Giveaway + Why were there no $15 WFANDANGO tennis tickets this year???

Why were there no $15 WFANDANGO tickets and fewer ticket promotions this year than in 2011?

A: There are no current senior citizen or student discounts available.

Q: Are there any military personnel discounts?
A: There are no military personnel discounts available.

Make the US Open more "Tennis Fan-Friendly"
I think that the USTA should show a bit more generosity back to the FANS and its USTA members than it has this year. Yes, it is important that it earns enough money as a non-profit, but the US Open should not just be about making the most money with big sponsors. Unfortunately, the most expensive corporate seats and suites sold usually go to those who are not even tennis players or do not regularly follow tennis. How is that fair?
Article from NY Times, 8/31/12
[Disappointed that Rafael Nadal was not playing in this year’s Open, Ruben Martin Vadillo and Mayte Rodriguez Gil, visiting New York from Madrid, did not bother purchasing tickets for the event.
“It’s too expensive,” said Vadillo, a 31-year-old physical therapist.]
The practice courts on P1-P4 could soon be going away soon too...now there is construction that pretty much bottlenecks that entire section of the US Open.

Waiting for USTA to step up
Many tennis fans who waited patiently for some affordable nose-bleed 1st week day tickets never got any this year. They were sold at full price and we've heard a lot of feedback from normally loyal US Open fans. Tickets for optimal days such as labor day weekend and Semi/Finals Weekend were sold out too quickly (possibly for scalping reasons).

Fill in more empty stadium seats, upgrade more fan seats!
Would it not make sense that we try to generate more sold-out sessions instead of leaving all these empty seats out there, like we did tonight at Andy Roddick's last match (only 1/3 full according to the commentators).

Suggestions to the USTA and the US Open
How about just some discounted Grounds Passes so we do not "gentrify" this sport in the US? Low-income and middle-class American tennis fans want to see good tennis too.

How much extra does it really cost USTA to have one extra fan on the premise? How about some discounts for children so that they can witness some great matches and dream big to play one day in Ashe Stadium. How about discounts for seniors and our active military personnel?

If most of the smaller US Open series tournaments are already doing this with family 4-packs and 10% off promos for USTA members, then isn't it about time??
Sure this is a political time in America, so for maybe this is the right time for Tennis fans to band together and demand that the USTA give back. Let's demand better tennis deals! Send this Email to support our campaign.

Some observations from this year's US Open...

Tennis-Bargains is back from the first week at the US Open 2012 opening weekend!

A few notables US Open 2012 additions and changes we want to highlight for you below. Also, with some US Open insider's guide Part 1 and Part 2 with insights during qualifying week

Court 17 - The "New Grandstand"

Fans Welcome Weekend - Free Close-up Players Practice

  • Got to see Roger Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Ferrer, Raonic, Nalbandian, Tsonga, Del Portro, Tipsarevic, Cilic, Monaco FOR FREE!!
  • Yep, if you came to visit the US Open this past weekend, you got to see practically every male player in the Top 15 from about 20-30 feet away!
  • On the women's side, we were able to see on these courts: Sharapova, Serena Williams, Clisters, Li Na, etc...

Top Food choice this year: Crepes

  • About 3/4 the way down the row of the food court area - these crepes come in different meats (chicken, beef, pork, veggie, etc).
  • Definitely would recommend trying one for about $11 for a relatively healthy yet tasty choice.
  • My favorite, "Le Poulle": The Chicken Crepe ~$11 is one of the best meals on site - good to enjoy when watching a match on the new court 17. Check out this article/review from NY Times.

Thanks to all our fans (both new and old) who are following us!

The Art of Ticket Re-Buying and Reselling: Great US Open Tickets Still Available (even for sold-out weekend sessions)

US Open 2012 Tickets Sold Out Tickets Calendar
Don't Panic! I'll show you how to get tickets to "Sold Out" days

Ticket Exchange (by Tickets Now) is the key for safe exchanges. Recommended for fans who are still trying to get into sold-out sessions or even looking to shop for a better deal than the full retail price.

Most importantly, these tickets are verified as genuine by Ticketmaster and reissued in your name - so someone cannot simply print out multiple copies and sell them.

Just don't wait too long as usual, the independent sellers need a few days to mail those paper tickets to you. My advice: buy only from the sellers with good ratings and reviews or only accept eTickets that can only be used with your mobile phone!

Q: Need a different ticket? How do you "exchange" Tickets for different ones?

A: Officially, Ticketmaster will not let you refund nor exchange directly back to them.

However, if someone decides they cannot attend and wants tickets for a different date, the best way is to try to resell them through Ticket Exchange and buy ones you can use with your credit. This is basically the best way you can "trade" tickets for the US Open. It is a very big marketplace.

1) After you create and log in with your Ticketmaster account, go to "My US Open Account Manager" and it will show electronically what tickets you have available to be sold or transferred.

2) Select the seat that you want to sell and the price you want to sell it. After your tickets are sold, you will receive credit for most of the sale price you set - which you can use to buy other tickets that you can watch!

Setting your Ticket Price

My advice is not to set the sale price too high, if you want to get your money back fast. If you are one of the lowest prices, your tickets will get bought even faster. Do a little research on the "Buy Tickets" page to see how much they are going for, and try to beat that price by a few dollars.

Seller's Tip:
You can even set it so that if nobody buys your ticket at your price within a certain time, you can get an email notification so you can still go use them instead! Good when the weather is iffy. Also, you can forward them to your friend's email (as a last-minute tennis gift).

Tennis-Bargains Tip for Season Plans and Mini-Plans Holders

For those who want to see several consecutive sessions of tennis. In the past, what I have done is bought the full plan season tickets and after selling or gifting away half of my unused tickets, I had enough credit to buy a full 2nd year of season tickets! This is useful if you want to sell night tickets and just keep the day tickets, for example.

Tennis-Bargains Giveaways - Email Tickets to our Fans

TicketExchange is what I used to offer free tickets instantly to our Tennis-Bargains winners.
  • Miguel S. (Queens, NY) - last week 7/15
  • Piyush (Hoboken, NJ) - this week 7/22.
In the example above, I just select the tickets I want to send, and just forward them to their email address. Both of them received Men's/Women's QF tickets. They just print them out and show them at the gate with their unique bar-codes and enjoy!

Try Resale Tickets from other fans - check in Aug for great bargains!

Legg Mason = Citi Open 2012 ATP 500 and WTA Event in DC

Tickets also allow you to watch all other side court matches including the all-new "Grandstand" court on a first come, first serve basis. Arrive early and get a front row seat!
